Do you see now why I would call those bands "pseudo-indie NME tripe?" Almost all are signed to a major label or a subsidiary of a major label, almost all are written about by the NME, and almost all are bad.

So you class your bands by what label they are signed by? That's rediculous. I really don't pay attention to a label, I listen and judge what I hear.
However I do agree signing to a major label can cause a change in the music, Death cab for cutie now on a major label for their latest album plans and the music doesn't quite the same, almost as if they are aiming for a wide audience.
