Do you see now why I would call those bands "pseudo-indie NME tripe?" Almost all are signed to a major label or a subsidiary of a major label, almost all are written about by the NME, and almost all are bad.
i would love to hear what bands YOU listen to.....

Why don't you read what I wrote above, then? Here, I'll make it easy for you, my top five bands...

1. Spoon
2. Les Savy Fav
3. Belle & Sebastian
4. The Rapture
5. Broken Social Scene

I'm also a very large fan of Rufus Wainwright, but he's not a band, so I couldn't put him on.

There's a difference between being written about by the NME and being hyped as the next big thing by the NME. And those bands are universally liked. Maximo Park, Kaiser Chiefs, Razorlight? No one besides the British press cares about those bands.

But I think you know that and just want to be an ass.

actually franz ferdinand and the arcade fire WERE in fact hyped as the next big thing by the NME...so please, don't think that just because NME really likes a band it sucks....that would make YOU a snobbish ass....some people like maximo park, the kaiser chiefs and razorlight...i personally don't but i still check out anything NME recommends....and, what do you know, i can actually make a decision if a like a band or not for myself even if NME likes them...who would have thought it....

Oh please. Stop trying to turn this into some Snob vs. Non-Snob thing, or trying to make me into some close-minded elitist who hates everything that isn't on some one-band record label out of Bum****ville, Arkansas.

You know full well what I mean when I say bands that the NME hypes. 10 years from now do you think anybody will remember Razorlight? Kasabian? The Futureheads?

No. And that's what seperates the good from the bad when it comes to the NME. They try so hard to be the magazine that broke the next big thing, that they'll put any band with a record deal on the cover if they think they're it.

Obviously, the NME is sometimes correct in naming good bands, but as I stated in another thread where you hounded me for this, a good portion of the bands are utter ****.

look adidass I used to love the nme but after ten years of the next greatest band to change your life it becomes a bit hard to take seriously.
This isnt to say that all the bands they champion are crap. Just to say that if you hype every other band as genius your not really gonna be taken to seriously when you get one right.
That said its a great read at times.
expletive...heard a bit of that m83 disc..thought it sounded pretty cool..is it on your recommends list as well as your ipod?
Thanks for the tip on the band hookerd with machine guns. Will check it out.
