Actually it appeared on 10 different lists. There were 76 lists all together.

im not sure how i stumbled upon NMH, i think i had a best buy gift card and this band was recommended to me by a buddy of mine. Needless to say i took a shot in the dark at NMH and the rest is history. Jeff Mangum is god, rivaled only by Nick Drake in the songwriting department IMO. I've never heard so much raw emotion in an album, definitely one of the best ever. Two-Headed Boy Pt. 2 is great, it's the musical equivalent of perfection.

For those of you looking for a little more NMH beyond Aeroplane and Avery Island you can download UTorrent or some other torrent program and go on sites like isohunt.com or thepiratebay.org and there are some astoundingly huge collections of NMH material, including live recordings, unreleased songs, and songs that are incredibly hard to find elsewhere. It is 100% worth the download.

All I have to say is I heart heart heart Neutral Milk Hotel. I can see how some people who aren't familiar will listen for 30 seconds and decide they don't like it....but on the whole NMH is amazing and fantastic. Wish I had a chance to see them live. In my top favorites for sure.

incredible band.

In the Aeroplane Over the Sea is easily one of the best indie releases of all time.

also what kinda bothers me is the fact that On Avery Island seems kinda forgotten, and while it isnt as good as Aeroplane, it is still a great album. I just wish it would get more attention.

People that don't like this band frustrate me. It's usually because of the quality, which I actually find quite likable. It adds to the overall sound so well. Smoothness isn't the mark of a good song. I like unpredictability, and this guy's voice is just so effing GOOD.
