I'm always sceptical of the people that come out with those trite 'Avery Island is better' comments. I cant help but think they're just trying to be contrary - using such statements as a backlash to something they believe to be far too mainstream for their oh so hip tastes. And yes, I'm aware that IAAOTS is commonly seen as the record synonymous with Indie hipsters - some of us are just too hip even for that.
Needless to say, whilst I enjoy Avery Island, I cannot fathom why people would believe it to be better than IAAOTS. And please dont regurgitate the 'matter of opinion' shit at me, I know it is, and this is just mine. |

Lol. I happened to hear On Avery Island first, and it just so happens I prefer it. That happens a lot for me with bands, I generally like what I hear first (assuming I like it a lot and want to hear the band's other stuff). It's definitely not any kind of backlash, I have no problem admitting if I like a band's most popular album. But I see how you might get that feeling sometimes.
