Disagree, respectfully of course, they've still got it. 'The Face' & 'Pyro' are something else. I managed to see them in Sunderland last year and they were brilliant, although you could see Caleb was visibly angered when half the crowd dissapeared after playing 'Sex On Fire' & 'Use Somebody'.

I do like their first two but I think "Because of the Times" is clearly their best album. Better song writing, better melody, bigger sound and a more detailed approach to making a proper album, as opposed to simplistic southern rock n roll tracks.
Give it another listen.

That's not the point. I am saying that "Because of the Times" is their best album, regardless of change in sound or popularity.
Although I agree that the two albums which followed are pretty lame overall.

So I gave it another listen.
I can understand the focus of the actual album construction being considerable. Half the tracks though are monotonous and generally speaking underwhelming. Caleb kinda died down. Song writing is ok, took a turn into deep and emotional mostly. But I don't really see them shine compared to their previous form. I still think they lost their impact. Caleb's unique voice in a fun uplift was dazzling, and their southern style gave them a distinct edge. It wasn't a generic style. Charmer and The Party gets a thumbs up from me. On Call blows.

Sorry, I just came in here to delete/edit my comment to a more appropriate response.
All I am trying to say is that their first two albums are pretty good southern rock n roll but, despite what you say, it was generic. It's not like you have to try hard to find much better versions of it. You could probably say the same for Because of the Times, but it's certainly a more meticulously put together record, and probably a grower. Maybe it isn't your chosen style of music to listen to, that's fine. Not really sure why I am trying to convince you to agree with me. BUT I AM!
