New single is alright...I agree about the polished sound, though. Sounds a little too "Matchbox 20ish" for my tastes.

Default Kings of Leon!!

I have been a pretty casual fan of these guys since "Youth and Young Manhood" in 2003, always loved their raw energy and bluesy/southern rock jam stlye but F**K man, they are evolving into a KILLER band. Their melodic sense and overall songwriting is becoming stellar. I saw them live in NYC Tues for the new CD kick off and these guys are and insanley good live act as well. Dare I say it:

Kings of Leon are THE BEST American band out right now!!

Check out:

"Fans", "Arizona", "Pistol of Fire", "Red Morning Light", "Four Kicks", "Notion", Manahattan", "Closer", "Ragoo", "The Bucket", "Taper Jean Girl", "Sex on Fire" (latest single), "Cold Desert" and "Molly's Chambers"...among many other awesome tracks.

Definitely a more mello/melodic tune for them but still great...not sure I hear the Phil Collins thing but it's certainly more "pop-ish" than some earlier tunes.

Be a far better sound if they ditched the singer.

The debate of "most talented" could go on and on and on..."Franklin Bridge" from Philly are uber-talented, but are they putting out the best music, I think not.

Kings of Leon just have all the essential elements of a great band:

-Excellent songs/songwriting
-Cool image
-Great live show/sound
-A "buzz" about them
-Talent
-A stable of songs that are all good, but varied in tempo/style

Very curious, as most fans and even casual listeners love Caleb's voice and I think it's a signature of the band, and getting even better with latest releases.

they wouldn't be the same without his voice but I will say that I'd like them more if he gave the band more of a chance. They are such amazing musicians. After first impressions, everyone seemed to ditch the strokes for the kings as best band. They're good but not the best in my opinion.

I think they have the potential to be a really great band, but they seem lazy. The new single is more the style I like.
