Going through their albums one at a time, all of them have atleast one song that I like, so far (except for Goo, but I love the album art so I am forgiving).
Sonic Youth - Junkie's Promise - YouTube this is my favourite from Washing Machine, which I'm going through right now. easily one of my favourite bands, Thurston is amazing as a solo artist too

Just found a copy of the Ciccone Youth LP recently and have been listening to the new Lee Ranaldo solo record, which is also very good. I too worry whether the Kim-Thurston split means the end of the band. They are one of the few bands who is still going strong after all these years and never really ran out of gas. Kind of brings hope to us old farts who grew up with them. People our age can still shred! If this IS it though, at least 'The Eternal' was a pretty strong record to go out on.

I like all their albums, some more some less over time. For the past year my favourites have been Sonic Nurse and Rather Ripped. The Washing Machine always sounds great. As well as Evol and Murray Street

Their 'best' album (I always think naming a best album is a bit, hmm) but it depends on what you're into, I have lots of friends who love Sonic Youth and alot of them have different favorite albums, but the most "common" ones that people seem to favorite is either Daydream Nation or Washing Machine.. Daydream Nation the most |

Oh by the way.. An album that I think alot of people overlook when they mention Sonic Youth is Murray Street, it's amazing! Check out Disconnection Notice.. it just has such a nice "soft" pleasurable way of being dirty that album..
I saw them in London on the tour for Murray Street and the songs work great live too! |

I have the "Dirty" album, which is quite OK, but not my favorite music. They've got a few cool songs, but they just don't sound good on tape imho.

Now what do you thin of this? SY have never sounded so creepy LOL Yoko Ono, Kim Gordon, and Thurston Morore will follow up their recent benefit single with a more extensive collaboration: a full-length album. The aptly titled YOKOKIMTHURSTON spans six tracks, and will be released on September 25th via Chimera Music. Yoko Ono, Thurston Moore, and Kim Gordon team up for collaborative album « Consequence of Sound I'm getting that album :-) |
