Personally, I really like most of their stuff from the beginning to now. Interestingly, Bad Moon Rising and Rather Ripped are my 2 favorite albums by them, even though they're quite the opposite ends of the timeline. I think that Rather Ripped was a relatively simple album in comparison to their older stuff, but in this case that worked out fantastically. Simply a great band, and they were such an influence on so many that came after (or with) them.

I just got tickets to see Sonic Youth in London on New Year's Eve. Shellac and The Pop Group are also playing, and Stuart from Mogwai is DJ'ing. Bitchin' lineup of bands that, I can't wait for it. I've managed to get a good group of friends heading down to London for it too.
Sonic Youth and The Pop Group are also playing in Manchester on the 30th December too. for anyone that likes those bands but doesn't wanna travel to London on NY Eve. Should be amazing gigs, both of them! |

Daydream Nation > Confusion Is Sex > Bad Moon Rising > Murray Street > Sister > EVOL > Dirty > Goo > NYC Ghosts & Flowers > Washing Machine > Sonic Youth (first EP) > Rather Ripped > Experimental Jet Set, Trash, No Star > The Eternal
I'm fans of all of them, aside from the last three though, which I'd say range from 'just ok' to 'why does this exist'. |
