Just don't forget Goo and EVOL though!

But yes of course every person who wants to get into Sonic Youth couldn't do much better than Daydream Nation, it epitomises their past and future into one sprawling album of purely awesome songs. It was what I started with and I've been hooked to them ever since.

I wasn't. I just feel that once you start naming more than 3 things at a time, people find each item diluted in its significance, so I was trying to keep it at 3.

Yeah I understand

I seem to be mentioning my favourite Sonic Youth albums every time I come on these boards!

But there's no harm in doing so again. At least until someone tells me to stop.

Daydream Nation > EVOL > Sister > Goo

They are the main 4 albums you need to buy for me after that I feel it is very hard to arrange them in any order of preference as they are all good for different reasons.
