Favorite Depeche Mode

I haven't seen Depeche Mode threads yet, so I wanted to make this.

Favorite Depeche Mode album & song and why?

My favorite album is Playing the Angel. Every damn song on that album is great, and the B-sides are no exception. The whole feel of the album is pretty dark and depressing but hey it fits my mood lol.
My favorite song of theirs has to be Halo. Coming from their most popular album, Violator, Halo was kind of underrated and over-shadowed by other songs from the album like Enjoy the Silence and Personal Jesus. The whole song is good, and is a different format than most songs, having no break and all that. The message is pretty cool too.

Fevorite Depeche Mode

Hey Smithdude,

I think I may have replied to another of your posts/threads. (New here, myself and learning navigating community!)

Like so much of D.M./hard to choose, but favorite release is def. Violator. I also wanted to let you know about fantastic live performance DVD (viewable on youtube; I don't know how to include youtube things in text yet): It's Devotional. To just call it a great concert DVD isn't enough; it's a concert Film. The DVD is 2 discs; frequently the behind-the-scenes footage can be bland/boring, but not the case here!! The stage set and lighting are by Andrew Corgijn; it's the most unique visuals!!

I think I'd also sent you another band who are like D.M.: Sensor.

Thanks I will check Sensor out!
Also, have you seen Depeche Mode 101? If not, it's this really weird documentary of them when they were doing their Music for the Masses tour, where they brought a bunch of random fans on a tour bus. Best music documentary ever!

That sounds so oddball-but such a cool thing to do for some lucky fans! Makes perfect sense that D.M. did that!!:yeah::bowdown: I'll have to check it out!!

Yeah it was a really great documentary!
Also, what album of Sensor do u recommend I listen to first?

Like Depeche Mode: Camouflage

:) Hey Smithdude,

I misspoke. Band name is actually Camouflage, lp is Sensor. That's 1st recommendation of their releases. 2nd would be Greyscale. I also made a post on the D.M. poll thread to direct anybody interested to this D.M. thread you started.:yeah:

There's also a compilation, but it's from an earlier period, and they had a new release in '18-I haven't given a listen to either. I included a music clip on the D.M. poll thread of song chosen at random from Sensor. (I can't pull up whole lp, as some are disabled in my Country). This one's @ random from Greyscale and I'll add one from band, White Lies, who you also may like, being a D.M. fan. They're darker on 1st 2 albums: To Lose My Life and Ritual, then go lighter on the following 2. Their newest, Five, is due out in Feburary. This one's from To Lose My Life. I'd posted, I think, the title track on another thread (don't remember which! I guess you could find it from my name & posts). Please let me know your thoughts on both bands.

Camouflage is the only band to ever come remotely close to Depeche Mode's sound. "The Great Commandment" is such an awesome song.

Choosing my favorite Depeche Mode album is a challenge and choosing a song is impossible.

My favorite 80's album is Music for the Masses and 90's is Ultra. It's tough for me to say which album is my favorite after 2000 because I usually shuffle all of the music together.

Depeche Mode is my all-time favorite band. I don't think that will ever change.
