i think that dm's great albums are songs of faith and devotion and for the masses.

I agree. Useless is an amazing song on an amazing album. Ultra has such a clean sound. It's also the first album without Alan Wilder. Some people have said that Depeche Mode went down hill after Wilder left. But I totally disagree. They've created some amazing stuff in their later years.
