There's Nothing Wrong with Love, Keep it Like a Secret, and Perfect from Now On are all so stylistically different it's hard to pick a favorite. It really depends on my mood, but I find myself coming back to There's Nothing Wrong with Love more often than the others. Perfect from Now On sometimes is a bit too depressing and it can seem too long.

Ancient Melodies of the Future and You in Reverse are good but for me not on par with the other 3.

Really? I felt like "You In Reverse" was one of their best. "Going Against Your Mind" has got a great pace to it, and "Traces" was one of their best tunes, compositionally speaking.

I can understand "Ancient Melodies" though. I read an interview with Doug a while back where he admitted that he wrote all the lyrics for that album in order to fit the instrumental parts he'd already written. But "The Weather" is one of their best, lyrically.

"Keep it Like a Secret" is my favorite right now. The whistling on "Broken Chairs" is strangely energizing.

Really? I've never found Perfect From Now On to feel too long. I think There's Nothing Wrong With Love played the blueprint to Keep it Like a Secret, and it's also surely one of Isaac Brock's favorite albums. Do you like Elliott Smith? He did a pretty neat cover of Car, minus the stupid drum.

I'm of similar thoughts regarding You in Reverse and Ancient Melodies of the Future. I like them, but they don't keep me coming back for more.

New Built to Spill album coming out this fall, guys. It's called "There Is No Enemy."

I do agree with this, I love "The Weather".

Totally agree. When I first got into Modest Mouse (Lonesome... and Building Nothing...) I likened them to a combination of BtS and Pixies. I'll check out that Elliott Smith cover in a bit. I like a few of his songs but he's not someone I listen to.

Been patiently waiting for it.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

i've been revisiting these guys for the past few hours at my friend's behest. definitely holds up much better than a lot of the older indie stuff i used to listen to, Perfect From Now On and Keep It Like a Secret are sheer classics.

i'm pretty upset now knowing that i missed seeing Doug Martsch like eight times in the past few years (and from what i hear, he's fucking electric).

HEY! The new album, There is No Enemy, came out today. It's rare these days that an album's release date comes along and no one's been discussing a leak. I've been anxiously awaiting it, have not heard it, and I'm picking it up after work. Can't wait!

On the other hand, I'm not very excited about one of the ugliest album covers I've seen in a while.
