Which records did you end up getting? The whole discography is great, well most of it.

Yeah, check out "You in Reverse", "Ancient Melodies of the Future", "Perfect from Now On", and "Keep it Like a Secret".

Those are definitely my favorite albums.

They put out a live album a while back and they did a really cool rendition of "Cortez the Killer", which I thought was cool because the Young influence has always been present in Doug's exposition. Check out "Wherever You Go" from "You in Reverse". There's definitely a "Ohio" vibe....at least in the instrumentation.

hope that helps.

Cleo is an awesome song

For some reason the only album I like is Perfect from Now on, although I consider that to be one of the greatest albums of all time.

haha I love that album. However, I don't know if I'd go that far.

"Randy Describes Eternity" and "Stop that Show" always put me in contemplative moods. It's a great album to listen to when you're alone in your car, driving long distances.

And if you listen to it with good, in-ear headphones you always hear something new. BTS has a great sense of space-management.

They put on a great live show, too.

Built to Spill is one of my favorite bands ever. Perfect From Now On is by far their best, it's what Built to Spill is supposed to be. It's the one album where everything came together in these spacious, changing, contemplative masterpieces.

Keep it Like a Secret is also one of my favorites, it's Built to Spill's pop album, while still maintaining their fractured indie rock aesthetic and spacious jamming.

And I felt like There's Nothing Wrong With Love was the blueprint to Keep it Like a Secret, and also the blueprint to Modest Mouse's existence.

I have nothing really to add, just expressing my support for Built to Spill since the thread was recently resurrected.

There's Nothing Wrong with Love, Keep it Like a Secret, and Perfect from Now On are all so stylistically different it's hard to pick a favorite. It really depends on my mood, but I find myself coming back to There's Nothing Wrong with Love more often than the others. Perfect from Now On sometimes is a bit too depressing and it can seem too long.

Ancient Melodies of the Future and You in Reverse are good but for me not on par with the other 3.
