I watched an interview with Black Francis saying that Pixies doesn't really have style. They just play and play until something sound's cool. Do you think that this is an accurate depiction? Does Pixies have no style?

Agreed. Very little bands transcend an overall style, even id they can made a vareity of different kinds of songs. And I don't think this is a bad thing as there is a similar reoccurring appeal that shows in different ways, giving it identity.

They get quiet and then loud and are very melodic. So basically Nirvana if they weren't quite as noisy and were a better band.
Not sure if you intended "post" to be the modifier of "art" there, but "Post Art" is a concept that I'm surprised doesn't already exist. Or "Post Music". Freeing yourself from the constraints of melody and rhythm and just being really loud and making funny noises. |

I listened to one Pixies track at the recommendation of Black Francis, so I would describe them as Black Francis's favourite band. Hope that helps, OP
