Pavement has the rep. but Interpol is much less boring. However, Jonny Greenwood from Radiohead plays a mean harmonica on Pavement's Terror Twilight- "platform blues" and "billie"

Pavement. who wants to listen to Interpol? A group who stole everything from Bauhaus to try and make it big. Pavement even sounds better.

funny - as this thread keeps going I keep subliminally putting on Pavement at home... it's great stuff!

I imagine the people saying interpol are too young to know pavement much... if that's not the case then I question their sanity...

I'm to young to know Pavement that well, correct. I haen't heard many songs from them, and have heard more from Interpol and can remember thinking that Interpol sounded quite cool while Pavement didn't really appeal to me. I'll look them both up again and make a second opinion, then come back to you with my final verdict.

glad to hear. i would say crooked rain, crooked rain is the best album to really introduce you (or re-introduce you) to pavement. even though slanted and enchanted is their first and is a great album, they hadn't totally established the "pavement sound" yet. it was heavily inspired by the fall (the band, not the season). next best choice, i think, is the album brighten the corners.
