Still Arcade Fire then, followed by... Well, U2's alternative era was pretty awesome from Unforgettable Fire to Achtung Baby. Haven't heard anything past that. I'll say this. Joshue Tree beats any Radiohead album.

Now that's just gross.

JGuy Grungeman 06-24-2016 11:49 AM

I can gross you out further.

U2 is for people whose lives are so interesting that they can't handle it when their music makes them pick up their heads. That's what draws them to artists like U2 and Phil Collins: everyone needs a little mind numbing boredom in their lives, and they do the trick.

I've been a U2 fan since I first heard them. Radiohead took time. I don't care if most people prefer Radiohead. I mean, both TJT and OKC are considered to be among the greatest albums ever so I don't really see what the big deal is. Plus, I'm more into pop rock than alternative and I like the 80's more than the 90's.

I'll say this. I rthink Radiohead's overall discography is better than the U2 that I've heard, but I would easily say The Joshua Tree is a better album than anthing they have. That one U2 album.

What are you talking about?

When you hit 300, we'll talk.

Greatest for me would probably be Simon and Garfunkel.

I guess TVU would be an early predecessor to alternative. If yo think about it, a lot of early alternativer bands had distorted guitars. Pixies, Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr....

thisisthelasttime 11-16-2019 11:36 AM

Keane and maybe Snow Patrol.

Bedlam Ballroom 11-25-2019 08:15 PM

It’s pretty tough for me to choose one. Maybe Luna and every project by Dean Wareham?
