Mojo Filter's Top 30 Oasis Songs
The following are my Top 30 Songs by one of the greatest rock bands of all time... OASIS http://www.oasisfanatic.com/gallery/...ry_pic2514.jpg http://www.kboing.com.br/fotos/image...16f9661348.jpg The band revolved around founding members, siblings Liam Gallagher, the band's lead singer and one of the greatest rock vocalists in history, and Noel Gallagher, the band's guitarist and chief songwriter. 30. LITTLE BY LITTLE/SHE IS LOVE (2002, Heathen Chemistry) One of Noel Gallagher's best sung double A-side singles, Little By Little features a soaring chorus and an infectious tune, while She Is Love is possibly one of Oasis's most underrated ballads. |
The most overrated band ever?

I moved this here. It deserves to be here.

29. D'YER WANNA BE A SPACEMAN? (1994, B-Side) One of the Oasis's earliest songs, written of course by Noel Gallagher, and one of their earliest B-sides in band's huge collection of incredible B-sides that were worthy of being hit singles, D'Yer Wanna Be A Spaceman is about a conversation between two people who have dreams of making it big. |
28. (IT'S GOOD) TO BE FREE (1994, B-Side) Another great B-side to the classic stand-alone single Whatever. One of Noel's best written songs, and Liam sounds great! |
27. UNDERNEATH THE SKY (1996, B-Side) Another great B-side! This one was the flipside to the classic single Don't Look Back in Anger. |
26. GUESS GOD THINKS I'M ABEL (2005, Don't Believe The Truth) Liam wrote this gem off of the band's acclaimed 2005 release. One of Oasis's most overlooked and brilliant songs ever! |
Comments and feedback are appreciated!

25. IDLER'S DREAM (2002, B-side) This was the B-side to the single Hindu Times. It is by far one of the best pieces of music Noel has ever written, and it's too good to be a b-side. |
Nice thread mate :)

What songs do you expect to see on my list? |
24. THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING IDLE (2005, Don't Believe The Truth) This is possibly Noel's funniest song, and his voice hasn't sounded any better than this. A song about being lazy. Everybody can relate. One of the band's biggest hits. |

We'll see. |
Not a massive fan of Oasis, perhaps I burnt myself out on them because I listened to them a fair bit when I was a young Manky. Liam Gallacher's 'sheeeiiiineee' is ever negatively enforced in my mind from just hearing him too much.
Best tracks in my opinion are 1. Stand By Me 2. Half the World Away 3. Little by Little I like the more stripped back tracks where there's less bravado and more emotion, but I now the majority of Oasis fans will gravitate towards What's the Story and Slide Away probably. I quite like the tracks that take Liam out of the picture too. |
23. DON'T GO AWAY (1997, Be Here Now) In the midst of the loud and brash track list of Oasis's over the top 1997 release, came this breath-taking, heart-wrenching rocker about losing a loved one. Noel wrote the song as a way to console band member Bonehead when his mother passed away. |
22. THE SHOCK OF THE LIGHTNING/I'M OUTTA TIME (2008, Dig Out Your Soul) The first single from Oasis's final album before breaking up in 2009, The Shock Of The Lightning was a return to form. A loud, fast, and aggressive rock tune that Noel wrote in less than an hour during the recording sessions. Definitely one of the band's most underrated songs. That is tied with another track from the album, I'm Outta Time. Liam has always been an open admirer and huge fan of John Lennon. Not only did he write this song in the vein of In My Life, as well as emulate the late Beatle's vocal style, but he also includes a sound bite from Lennon's final interview before his untimely death near the end of the song. |
21. LISTEN UP (1994, B-side) Another fantastic song that somehow ended up being a B-side. This was the flipside of the 1994 single Cigarettes and Alcohol. A straight-out rock track with a wall of sound, something Oasis became famous for during the heyday of the 90's British rock invasion. |
20. DON'T LOOK BACK IN ANGER (1995, (What's The Story) Morning Glory?) One of the most popular Oasis songs, if not their most recognizable song. The first song in which Noel sand lead, Don't Look Back In Anger has grown into an anthem and a crowd favorite over the years. Just listen to it played live, either on Youtube or at one of Noel's solo gigs, and you will feel the powerful affect this song has on people. |
19. SLIDE AWAY (1994, Definitely Maybe) Slide Away was Oasis's first ballad. The song sounds even better played acoustically. |
I'm starting to think not that many people on this board like Oasis...
Who cares? I love them, and the countdown will continue :D |
18. MIDNIGHT AT THE OASIS (1973, Maria Muldaur) I bet you never expected a Smooth Jazz song to be so damn sexy. |

18. THE MASTERPLAN (1995, B-side) Possibly, the most amazing Oasis song that ended up as a B-side. The song was first featured as the flipside to the mammoth hit Wonderwall. |
17. LOVE LIKE A BOMB (2005, Don't Believe The Truth) One of the many gems and highlights on their 2005 release, this remarkable tune was written by Liam and guitarist Gem Archer. |
16. SOME MIGHT SAY (1995, (What's The Story) Morning Glory?) The band's first Number 1 in their home country of UK, Some Might Say was and remains to be one of their popular hits. |
The list continues tomorrow...
Leave more comments on the songs...and please keep the topic on Oasis, not rubbish jazz music |
15. TALK TONIGHT/ACQUIESCE (1995, B-Side) The B-side to their first UK Number 1 hit, Some Might Say, this acoustic number sung by Noel is worthy of being an A-side single. It's that good. Acquiesce was the other B-side to their first UK Number 1 hit, Some Might Say, this powerhouse stadium rocker featuring Liam and Noel sharing vocal duties, Acquiesce is probably Noel's blatant message to his brother and how their collaboration resulted in the formation of one of the biggest bands on the planet |
14. MARRIED WITH CHILDREN (1994, Definitely Maybe) The closing track on their debut album, this subtle, funny, acoustic number is one of the highlights on the album, featuring one of the best vocals by Liam. |
13. SONGBIRD (2002, Heathen Chemistry) Liam wrote this simple acoustic ballad, and it has become one of Oasis's most recognizable songs. |
12. COLUMBIA (1994, Definitely Maybe) The elusive and bluesy track Columbia from their debut album is definitely, not maybe, one of Oasis's greatest jams. It's too bad Noel rarely wrote more songs like this later on in the band's career. |
11. WONDERWALL (1995, (What's The Story) Morning Glory?) By far, Oasis's biggest and most famous song. It's a great song, but just not their best hit. Noel wrote this infectious ballad to his then girlfriend Meg. |
10. Morning Glory (1995, (What's The Story) Morning Glory?) By far, Oasis's most sentimental song. The guitar playing along with the singing provides a somber listening experience. It's sincere and introspective. It's a song in which all your dreams are made. |

10. ROCK N' ROLL STAR (1994, Definitely Maybe) One of the first singles by Oasis, this has grown into an anthem for a generation over the years. A song about believing in yourself. |
9. CAST NO SHADOW (1995, (What's The Story) Morning Glory?) This is possibly Noel's most beautiful song. He wrote this about The Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft, but the words and meaning are deep and personal that they relate to anybody. |
8. WHATEVER (1994, Stand-alone Single) A song about rebellion, about not caring about what people say and doing whatever you want. This was a predominant theme for many of Noel's songs in Oasis's early days. |
