I feel like they help open a lot of doors, into punk, blues, and country

You don't think the Shyamalanian "oh, but she was my ex wife the whole time!" doesn't seem a little gimmicky? I really like The White Stripes, but I've always wondered if they did the whole shtick so that they would remain relevant if things were to go sour commercially.

The White Stripes was probably the most gimmicky garage band of all time, but i dont think its something to be frowned upon completely. Like the whole white and red, plastic guitar, bad drummer it just made it more attractive for me

That's probably why I'm so ready to assume that it's a gimmick. I don't think that Meg is a bad drummer really. She plays simpler stuff but if it helps make the music great, then that makes her a great drummer. Same type of situation as Lou Reed or Jimi Hendrix's making great music despite having a horrible voice.

Megs drumming accented jacks guitar perfectly. But on her own merit, i do think shes pretty ****ty skill wise.

Frownland 10-20-2015 10:46 PM

That doesn't matter. Good music is not the same as technically proficient music.

RebelliousTaco 10-20-2015 10:49 PM

Amen brother. Do you think the black keys straight up copied them?

Frownland 10-20-2015 10:52 PM

I guess that they did a less successful job of copying the handful of bands that The White Stripes was copying, yes.

RebelliousTaco 10-20-2015 11:13 PM

Lol most appropriate.

I think a lot of fans would like to see a reunion, but I think Jack said that The White Stripes had its time and place, and a reunion would be unlikely to happen.

Their marriage ended long before the band did, so I don't think that'd be an issue.
