What do people think of Bloc Party there album is a must buy and they were awsome at glasto what do you guys think

damn...you got to see them at glastonburry?!

they're awsome, cant believe they got so big so fast but good for them, they deserve it.

I had a lend of Silent Alarm from my friend and put it on my iPod, some of it's quite good, it's nothing spectacular though.

there's so much media around them....they're good, not great though....

Must buy ?

i dont know im just not impressed by the lot. i dont dislike them but i wouldnt listen to them either.

Silent Alarm was such a slow-burner for me... When I got it first I ended up just listening to Helicopter and Banquet all the time, but most of the album start to really grow on me, particularly Like Eating Glass which is quite beautiful really, and Pioneers... Plus Positive Tension is one killer of a song. They're really flantabulous live aswell so much noise for four midgety geeky guys.

I am going to see them in Oct. I haven't bought the album but have heard they are good.

Has anyone heard 'Little Thoughts'? It's not from Silent Alarm, but it's much more indie then most of that album. I really like it anyway. Helicopter, Like Eating Glass and Pioneers are all pretty good songs too. Must say, I can't listen to the album as a whole though...it gets a little boring. ^_^

'little thoughts' is better than most songs on the albumn as is 'the marshalls are dead.' shocked when the albumn came out to find they werent on it

Awwww....I love you too! Come on the words "flan" "fantastic" and "fabulous" have finally come together in the word you always wanted, but were too lazy to ask for!

Little Thoughts EP is, ahem, flantabulous, but it wouldnt have set with the mood of Silent Alarm. And yeah it gets really snoozy towards the end doesnt it? They shouldve cut a couple of songs like Luno and Compliments out.

i see you think exactly like me....i said the same thing a while ago....the first 10 songs were perfect...from then on it's just filler-no thriller....
edit: and i was reffering to the fact you saw them live...i say flantabulous too...well actually fantabulous...close enough...

Why listen to that MTV2 force fed crap, when you can go buy a White Magic album and rock out!!! :)

That was exactly what I thought when I recognized this thread... Didn't we have all these conversations like...3 months ago?
Anyway, I still like Bloc Party and I still like "Silent Alarm" (although I bought it long ago...). You're all right saying that it's not a masterpiece, but some tracks a really great...you already mentioned..."Hellicopter", "Banquet", "The Pioneers" or "Positive Tension", but I also like "She's Hearing Voices" and "This Modern Love".
Nevertheless, I was quite suprised they grew big that fast. I mean they're an Indieband still.
Anyway, my most favourite song's and always will be "Staying Fat", just because of Matt Tong. He's the most ingenious drummer I've ever listened to. He's got the beat...

It's not on the album and it's not THAT good... I mean it's not the best song of all times, but the drums... I love it because of Matt Tong's incredible beat.

I think they are quite good... should make my top 20 albums of the year. I don't listen to the album much though anymore and just listen to remixes and live sets though...

Seen them 3 times now. In Reading where they headlined a small venue (best performance of theirs and after had drinks with the band next door and Kele was a sound bloke), next night at the NME tour with Undertones, Kaiser Cheifs and Killers and lastly at Glasto. I don't care for them as much on big stages...

This is one of those bands that found enough popularity that a lot of Indie fans are now saying they are crap... Odd how that works...

My friend loves that song, Josephines right, its not on the album, but there are a few Bloc Party songs that are quite good not on the album.
