I love Monster (or as I like to call it, Peter Buck is REALLY Excited About His New Delay Pedal) despite the hate it gets. Automatic For the People is their best, most complete album though.

Monster are my favourites. I think
Monster was criticized for it's sharp contrast to
Automatic - REM went from a flowy, softer-sounding record to a raw, guitar-bass-drums record, and people didn't like that for some reason.
