Jinglejangle
I think I'm having a jangle pop kick right now. The last couple of days my listening has been pretty much dominated by R.E.M., The Smiths, The Housemartins and The Byrds. Alright, there was some Dashboard Confessional thrown in, but you don't have to tell anyone.
Alrighty. Do you know any good jangle bands? What are your favourite jangle pop albums? What should I check out next? |
Here's some album recommendations to help you on your way:

The Records, especially this song, are great: The Smiths are obligatory, though I'm sure you know them: The La's wrote one of the most misunderstood songs about heroin ever: Vivian Girls teeter-totter between twee, indie-pop, and jangle-pop. Not that there's much a difference: |
Am i the only one who thinks sub-genres are getting outta hand?
i know R.E.M as alternative not jangle pop and i don't wanna call R.E.M jangle pop cause no offence Briks, it sounds stupid to me, it's like renaming the same sh*t with a different name. Who is creating all these sub genres? is it the bands themselves or is it fans trying to force their individuality simply by labeling it differently? |

Besides the term has been around in one form or another since the mid 80s, it's not exactly a new thing. As for Briks, you need to get your hands on this 5CD box set.... http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l9...ry-of-Indi.jpg |
