HELP finding this band!!!

Hi guys, this is my first post here, and to be honest it's quite a long shot, but I figure I'll try anyway! I'm trying remember the name of a band a friend introduced me to a few years ago. Basically he gave me a CD by this band and it was great but I can't remember their name and it's really peeing me off!
OK - They are a British "indie" band and the CD was something like a 2000 release, I remember the band name began with the letter "D", but I'm pretty sure it wasn't the Delgados despite initially thinking so. I'm sure it was something like Dekota (not the 60's band The Dakotas!). Was there a band by that name, or something kinda similar in the late 90's/early 2000s? Any ideas?!!!!!

Help is at Foot

Delays? Sons And Daughters? You got anymore specificer (its a word!) details, songs or anything?

Help!

Unfortunately not! Just remember it began with "D". I actually thought it was the Delgados until I went to buy the CD over the weekend and discovered it wasn't. Was there a British band called Dakota banging around in late
90's/early 2000's? I remember one of the songs I really liked had the lyric "I sat on a rock for most of the night" - Not much help I'm sure! It was kinda "soft" melodic indie - ie not as "heavy" as say Oasis. I even remember the band getting quite a bit of attention in NME around 98/99 but I just can't remember their bloody name!

My Googling skills have lead me to believe that they are called Delakota. Sound right?

YOU DISGRACE! Emo sections the other way, fool!

Oh yeah hope you feel welcome by the way!!!

Dylan 07-08-2005 04:52 PM

Well they call it emo, I actually came across them by looking for new material by Pop Unknown, but a lot of their stuff is quite US punkish, a la territorial pissings.

The Indie Bar Kid 07-08-2005 04:54 PM

You gotta love them...If only for their name...And is US punkish basically slang for Busted?

DidierD 07-08-2005 07:28 PM

the used are awsome. havn't heared too much since their 1st albumn which is magical and whatever sort of music you like, once uve listened to the used for long enough u'll love them

The Indie Bar Kid 07-08-2005 09:49 PM

Ive been force-fed them by Artist In The Ambulance (although not so much their music as their homosexual porno activites) and I really have to say Ive nothing but absolute detestation in my blackened heart for them...But to each his own!

Dylan 07-10-2005 06:58 PM

I can sorta see what you mean by your comment comparing US punk to Busted. But no, from what I've heard of the used it's more emo meets US punk, a la mudhoney/territorial pissings
