Future Islands
 

I enjoyed that. If you did too, or would like to try an upbeat Beach House or singing Marlon Brando from his famed A Streetcar Named Desire performance, crooning to you in a Brian Ferry kinda way, check em out.

I've actually found that I like their older stuff more. I love that song I posted the most right now but their 2010 album, just two tracks in, is grabbing me even more than their newest (Singles) or their 2011 one, On the Water - the 2011 one had some great moments, of course, and has more of a Beach House sound incorporated. This 2008 (In Evening Air) has more of a kinda goth edge, but interestingly the songs don't rely too much on downbeat style or ominous/minor keys. I think it sounds raw not only because of the lower production value but also because this album puts a guitar twist on things, where the other two I've heard don't. His voice can be eerie and threatening in many ways, but he also sounds kind in equal measures; he actually sounds a little like Tom Waits on In Evening Air, but if he decided to do this kinda 80s/dream pop sound. Also, their bass player is killer, as well as the keyboardist, whom I'm always gonna be partial to because of my affinity for them. Anyway, here's two really good songs:

Thanks for posting all that information about the band. Future Islands does sound indeed better with the dream-pop, in my opinion.
I like Beach House, however, I wouldn't compare Future Islands to them. From what I've heard and especially the song Balance it sounds more like Digitalism and Ratatat.
It seems to me that this electro-clash with the cut-off electronica-sounds doesn't really fit to the band.
At any rate I really like the song A Dream of you and me, so thanks again for your posts and introducing me to Future Islands.

Maybe beach house wasn't the right comparison, there were just a couple of thigs that reminded me if them that weren't exactly the most integral parts of the music. You seem way more on the rift track, I'm actualy not very familiar with dream pop overall or any newer indie pop in many regards. I am glad you enjoy it though! I'm bout to go see them this Friday and I'm frzckin pumped.

The only concerts I'd be able to see this summer is Julia&Angus Stone and Neutral Milk Hotel and The National.
Which are kind of expensive and not worth the whole traveling effort, I guess.
