Curious, it was in my mind, but doing a bit of googling, post-punk bands include the Talking heads and The Cure?? Which are indeed full of melody.

Goes to show how little I know about music. :/

Yeah exactly. Or to name some other ones that can be very melodic and /or jangly: the Raincoats, Girls at our Best, the Monochrome Set, the Wedding Present, you could even say the Smiths are post punk.
