That`s debatable as Nirvana were only around long enough to record three studio albums, so nobody really knows where they would`ve gone. FF were really just a continuation of Nirvana in many ways and after the amount of albums they`ve recorded they just decided to be more generic.....they may even change their direction again.

Dear Mr Grohl,
Your beard is amazing. You play the drums like two jack rabbits ****ing. You know a good riff when you hear one. You have played with some of the best bands of the last 20 years- Nirvana, Killing Joke and Queens of the Stone Age. You made a Thrash album with some of your idols but you hid it under another name (Probot) and you have a gift for comic timing and acting. So why oh why do make such banal boring crap with Foo Fighters? I am pretty sure you don't need the money so why foist a half assed sound on everyone when it is obvious that you want to make an album that is personal to you and not an album that appeases a commercial fanbase and keep you musically safe? If I would ever meet you for a drink I would find you eminently likeable but bitterly disappointed that I haven't heard the band that is inside you itching to get out and cave everyone's ears in.

Foo Fighters take everything that made Husker Du & The Pixies great and serve it back to you in this bland radio friendly turd.
