yeah, but nirvana didn't have a generic sound, they were grunge,FF sounds like every other one hit wonder out there nowadays, but they've created a career out of it. so it's not really like nirvana.

That`s debatable as Nirvana were only around long enough to record three studio albums, so nobody really knows where they would`ve gone. FF were really just a continuation of Nirvana in many ways and after the amount of albums they`ve recorded they just decided to be more generic.....they may even change their direction again.

ahh i don't agree with that, inutero sounds nothing close to FF's debut album

they had
bleach
incestiside
nevermind
inutero

those were the studio albums

The other two you`ve added were not proper studio albums as such, just additional releases much in the same vein as the Hendrix discography (also had only 3 studio releases but about a zillion extra collection style albums). Also I wasn`t talking about In Utero but the Nirvana sound in general.

Nirvana- negativity
Foo Fighter- positivity

This is really just the difference between Nirvana and early FF.

makes me think of the Bill Hicks quote "I don't mean to sound bitter, cold or cruel, but I am, so that's how it comes out".

Dear Mr Grohl,

Your beard is amazing. You play the drums like two jack rabbits ****ing. You know a good riff when you hear one. You have played with some of the best bands of the last 20 years- Nirvana, Killing Joke and Queens of the Stone Age. You made a Thrash album with some of your idols but you hid it under another name (Probot) and you have a gift for comic timing and acting.

So why oh why do make such banal boring crap with Foo Fighters? I am pretty sure you don't need the money so why foist a half assed sound on everyone when it is obvious that you want to make an album that is personal to you and not an album that appeases a commercial fanbase and keep you musically safe?

If I would ever meet you for a drink I would find you eminently likeable but bitterly disappointed that I haven't heard the band that is inside you itching to get out and cave everyone's ears in.

Foo Fighters take everything that made Husker Du & The Pixies great and serve it back to you in this bland radio friendly turd.
