Grizzly Bear Working on New Music, Ed Droste Discusses "More Adventurous" New Direction

Grizzly Bear's Ed Droste sat down for a revealing interview with The Standard about his personal life (via Stereogum). He also discussed the current state of his band, saying they've started working on new music. Apparently, the band are heading in a different aesthetic direction.

"We’re feeling more adventurous with the sonic directions, changing it up a little bit—not, like, a techno dance album," he said. "It’s in the beginning stages. Only a couple songs have started to take shape and it’s gotta be like, a good dozen or so before we get the picture.”

I think Grizzly Bear's cover of Hot Chip's "Boy From School" is one of my favourite covers of all time.

Oh God I hope its not awful. They've never let me down before but as soon a I read "techno" my heart dropped.

I remember seeing them open for TV on the Radio...I hardly paid any attention to TV on the Radio afterword, couldn't get GB out of my head.

First song from their new (upcoming) album. On my 2nd listen, it definitely strikes me as one of those songs you have to listen to a half dozen times before you can make a judgement. That said, it does have that Grizzly Bear sound.
