The song thread
Same exact concept as the song thread in the punk forum. Find download links, post 'em here. {all you need to do is right-click and copy the link location, then when you post it, use the "insert hyperlink" icon in advanced mode}. You can either play them in your media player or download by right-click/save as. Let me know if they don't work.
Le Tigre- New Kicks The Faint- Call Call The Faint- Agenda Suicide The Faint- Glass Danse The New Year- Chinese Handcuffs Beck- Leave Me On The Moon Beck- Halo of Gold American Football- Honestly Badly Drawn Boy- Once Around the Block Ted Leo&ThePharmacists-Where Have all the rudeboys gone Ted Leo&ThePharmacists- Come Baby Come |
|
The Le Tigra track is rather good. I haven't downloaded anymore, tis too slow, bloody dial up connection.
|
i think this is pointless....it would be much better if you could post some streaming links so those of us with dial ups don't have to download....
|
he's not just posting them for you. Not everyone can download **** off some program. Look at the one in the punk forum, it wasn't a bad idea at all. I'd help, but I don't listen to indie so I'd probably end up posting a bunch of crappy songs that probably aren't even indie
|
^^same here.

If there are even a few of you who actually cared to download some of these songs, then that's good enough for me. I'm not here to fancy all of you. Btw, most of these songs are nice and legal, because they are from accredited sites (mainly the band homepages).
If you don't have good connection speed, that's fine. But, if you have a band or a song you want people to hear, this was meant for you to post a link so others can listen. But anyway, I'll continue to post more songs, that is, if people want them. And sh*t, I'm all about the Black Keys, so I definitely have no prob posting those links. |
you been on drownedinsound.com before? good for discovering new music.
and the black keys... full of catchy riffs. but they dont do much for me. |

Thanks for the TV on the Radio track as well, had been recommended them countless times before, but never actually gotten round to listening to them. But now I will. |
DFA 1979 are a better two-piece in my opinion. now that guy fuzzes the bass to its limits.

I admit there are a plethora of all male two piece bands ripping it up. But not the Eurythmics. |
the white stripes have kind of inadvertently started this whole two piece rock phase.
id agree with you on the DFA 79 not being blues point. a lot more of an electronic influence with them. |
Quote:
Of course White Stripes are a great 2 piece band but, they don't belong in this genre, where would be a better place for them? Stu just said that too - weird |
white stripes are a garage rock band with a heavy blues influence. 'nuff said.

architecture in helsinki - in case we die
ok check this out ..this is from nme.com: "Someone call Dogs Die in Hot Cars! Tell them they can come out of hiding! We've found someone else with a superiorly crud name to point and laugh at now. Sit down Test Icicles; we're looking at you Architecture in Helsinki. Yet this Australian trio sound too high to care. This sounds like The Polyphonic Spree drowning in serotonin in the Hacienda toilets, only produced by Phil Spector and segued into a 40-second long Stephen Hawking harmonica solo. On roller skates. On ****ing Mars. It's daft and delightful, and as comparably wonderful as their moniker is awful." hilarious isn't it?!...the guy most have been on acid when he wrote that description, the song sounds nothing like he described it, it's just a nice indie-pop track....going by his description i thought it would be some crazy, i'm on heavy crack/acid 70's experimental rock.... also veto silver - when you're with that girl it's electro pop |
After reading the description...your right, it is a bit of an anti-climax...sounds like he was on acid when he listened to it as well

'Bout time, the Fiery Furnaces are probably the best "duo" band out there. They got compared to the Stripes at first because they're pretty much a duo, but after Blueberry Boat they "proved" they were nothing like Jack and Meg (because they never really sounded like them anyway). The Black Keys also kick ass, and the best thing is they are blues purists. Just simple music played loud. They don't need to be ironic or tongue-in-cheek about it (I'm looking at you, J. Spencer...), and they don't name-drop with their covers (yeah, Jack White is crazy covering Robert Johnson... but then again so was every '60's and '70's blues blues band... even Cream). Only the Fiery Furnaces should be allowed to cover delta blues songs, because that'd rock. But they haven't done that... yet. Btw... Islands - Flesh Islands - Abominable Snow Soooo good... |
