Menomena - Old & New
Couldn't find a thread on them so thought I start one in case there was enough of a following going.
I saw that there are some listeners on the forums so I thought they deserved a thread. I'm a big fan, they're have a great way of putting together their songs, they used to do it just by passing a mic round to each band member in the room to record a new part on the fly and then they'd cut and paste it all around together to make finished tracks. I was nervous about the release of their latest album Moms because Brent had left and he was obviously an important creative influence, as all of them are. But I think the album kicked some serious ass, Plumage and Capsule being big favourites. So yeah which albums do people like? Anyone not so keen on Moms? How about Ramona Falls, Brent's new project, anyone a bigger follower to them? Peace. |

I have only recently discovered Menomena. I like them.
I haven't heard anything but stuff off the new album. I do like the content of Moms. So far my favorites from the album are "Pique"; I also liked the ones you mentioned.

Menomena is cool but there are always some tracks on their albums that don't do anything for me. I like Moms, but the same applies.

Yeah they're so wide-ranging with the styles that the touch on in their songs that there's always bound to be songs that you don't get on board with. There are whole tracks that I skip when I get to them because I don't like them that much but at the end of the day Menomena still come out as one of my favourite bands.
