Indie Music Festivals
So I went to a Indie music festival called St. Jerome's Laneway Festival and I have never seen so many hipsters together in one place. The fashion sense was appalling! I cruised along with a bright pink singlet, a grey tarten mini skirt and pink heart shaped glasses, boy was I out of place!
Anywho, the highlights for me were Of Monsters and Men who were excepetional, the crowd was ridiculously hyper during their set. I was really impressed with the large number of people in the band and the switching between trumpet, vocals and keyboard. I liked Alt-J but felt they weren't as responded to by the crowd as they are relatively unknown here. Kings of Convience were excellent and I will be actively looking up some of their albums to download. Bailterspace is a Kiwi band that's been around 20 years or so and they were honestly not in the right crowd to be appreciated. The lead guitarist Alister Parker had 8 guitars which he swapped to after each song. It seems like the best crowds would have been during the 90's to enjoy the shoegaze deliciousness. The last artist of the night that I watched was electronic producer Flume, otherwise known as Harley Streten who played a reasonable set, but I feel some of the transitions could be better. He certainly had it down in terms of amping the crowd up and I liked the variety of electronica, hip hop and techno used as samples. I think with more experience with performing he will be a bright spark in the electronica world. On the way out of the festival Bat for Lashes were playing. What a voice! I considered staying to watch until the end but was tired and sore. Although their music has not grabbed me on YouTube, I will still recommend checking them out. Is anyone else wanting to discuss any Indie Festivals they've attended? I'd be interested to see what other artists that I could see on the future based on recommendations.

They've been around since 2000ish but in the last 7 or 8 years they've only got together sporadically.
