i stand corrected. you like the album?

adidasss 05-25-2005 12:36 PM

you know what would help if you want us to try these bands out, if you actually said something about the type of music they play...you don't expect me to go check out every band solely on the basis "stu likes them"...do ya?

Sneer 05-25-2005 12:42 PM

i couldnt care less if you check them out at all to be honest. i was asking if people like the album. your choice if you want to see what their like.
but since you asked- gritty indie-pop with progressive chord changes and an element of dirty blues.

When have I ever done such a thing? :yikes: {if i were to comment on every band I thought was crap, I'd have been banned on day one}

Honestly, I'm not familiar with the music. I'll check it out and get back to you

I saw them described as psychadelia somewhere , dunno where that came from

ahhh..even though you think you insulted me, i happen to think nme has a great taste in music and it fits just right with me ( they discovered the bravery, hot hot heat, bloc party, franz ferdinand, they love the arcade fire, the killers, interpol etc) and as i recall it they were the first to discover your precious joy division...that's why when they say something's great i'm gonna check it out...

Actually they were discovered by TV presenter Tony Wilson who gave them a shot on primetime TV and then later signed the band. The band said themselves at the time nobody in London gave a **** about them.

ah yes, but nme was the first and only magazine that put them on the front cover....

Sneer 05-26-2005 10:05 AM

..back to the duke spirit then

adidasss 05-26-2005 04:05 PM

well i downloaded love is a unfamiliar name and it's a good song, i'm going to download some more, but i wish there was a website out there where you could just listen through entire albums ( sometimes nme.com alows you to do that ), so i don't have to bother downloading...that would be fantastic, and i could choose from much more bands, because i don't really feel like downloading everything , it's quite a slow process...one day maybe...

Nonsense, I discovered Franz Ferdinand long before NME ever did; and I knew you liked NME, you've told us you like their website before, hence why I said it. :)

Anyway I digress. I tried to check out some Duke Spirit but there was none to be found on the web. Saw the album in the music shop today, is it really worth buying?

oh yes. the whole album is good. relentless guitar and a general energy throughout the whole thing. every song is a killer. stand outs- cuts across the land, love is an unfamiliar name, bottom of the sea, fades the sun, theres so many. well worth a tenner.

adidasss 05-27-2005 08:38 AM

sorry, downloaded a couple of songs and didn't think much of it...

Sneer 05-27-2005 08:41 AM

each to their own.

adidasss 05-27-2005 08:46 AM

suppose so...but keep recomending new bands, you know of much more bands then i do...

Sweet Jane 05-28-2005 06:25 PM

They're playing in my area tomorrow night. You've convinced me to go check them out Stu. Will let ya know how the gig is. :)

Sneer 05-29-2005 11:45 AM

Soundgardener 05-29-2005 12:08 PM

I've downloaded a couple of songs like "Love is an Unfamiliar Name", "Dark is Light Enough", and "Cuts Across The Land". I like their sound very much.

saulbhoy 05-31-2005 09:16 AM
