Nice over all atmospheric tone. The vocals compliment and contrast the accompaniment and the lyrical content, production and arrangement all fall together to create a coherent story. A similar evocative mood is prevalent in a number of acts I have come across these days. Check out Laura Marling: Goodbye England , the xx: Shelter or a duet by the echo friendly : same mistakes. Perhaps not quite your speed. However…

You know, pretty much that whole album is really solid. Born, Bury Us Alive, The White of Noon.
I find their spoken word samples pretty interesting. Especially since they use the same stuff from he same guy over multiple albums. Theres a pretty long section of it at the end of Mystery Cloud. Ive searched what it was from before and didn't come up with anything. |
