The Batlord 01-03-2013 02:33 PM

MglTerc 01-04-2013 05:43 PM

We thank you for contributing though :)

Quite possibly video of the year.

Justthefacts 01-09-2013 03:54 PM

British indie pop. Only on track two but I've loved them both so far

katsy 01-13-2013 06:34 PM

Modest Mouse just doesn't get old.

Justthefacts 01-15-2013 08:37 PM

I had no idea the drummer was also the singer. Makes them ten times cooler

Black Francis 01-15-2013 08:59 PM

The drums

Don't really know them much but i like a couple of songs from them..

plus in this video the singer looks like that guy who played Robocop

Neapolitan 01-16-2013 02:24 AM

I'd check out the album that song is on. It received mixed reviews, but I found it pretty admirable.

The Misper's new song Lightship95 is great. The best place to find it is on youtube as they've got a nice vid to go with it.

Otherwise, singer-songwriter from Sydney, Celia Pavey will also make it big this year. Youtube her too!

So fun being ahead of the game!! ENJOY!

Yay for Indie artists that are actually independent! Who'd have thought?
I've been listening to Dan Krochmal, a singer-songwriter from Melbourne. Sounds kinda like Jeff Buckley or Radiohead:

saw these guys open for david dondero a while ago. pretty good

JonnyCraig 01-29-2013 06:32 PM

Check out DIIV

I think they have a pretty cool sound, although their echo and reverb effects are way over the top, i wonder how they would sound acoustic haha

Kingfish92 02-04-2013 08:49 AM

Goin' Against Your Mind - Built to Spill

Sixtytwoo 02-04-2013 06:52 PM

Two door cinema club - What you know!

Justthefacts 02-07-2013 01:58 PM

this song really gives off a Beatles-esque feel to it, which is neat. Certainly growing to this album quickly.

IcarusDown 02-12-2013 07:50 AM

Lately listening to a lot of Wild Nothing

The Batlord 02-13-2013 03:02 PM

Violent Femmes' second album is one of the most fantastic things I've heard in recent weeks. Might be a good transitional album to finally get me into country.

Fuck it. I got some money to blow. I'm gonna go get this and Kid A next time I'm at the CD store. Maybe replace my busted copy of Ride the Lightning or Altars of Madness too.

Nice man, just bought their album after hearing that! Makes me fuzzy and I didn't even know they were from NZ! Cool!

Nice over all atmospheric tone. The vocals compliment and contrast the accompaniment and the lyrical content, production and arrangement all fall together to create a coherent story. A similar evocative mood is prevalent in a number of acts I have come across these days. Check out Laura Marling: Goodbye England , the xx: Shelter or a duet by the echo friendly : same mistakes. Perhaps not quite your speed. However…

I love the xx and "shelter," among many of their other songs on repeat around here. (I think I recently posted one of their songs somewhere)
I will check out Laura Marling and Echo Friendly.

Songs overrated, or the band?
