has this ever happened to you?

in most cases first i download an album and then if i really liked it i buy it a bit later...and i've noticed that 9 time out of 10 some of the songs on the original , bought album are different, and 9 times out of 10 for the worse...for example, 2 of my favorite kings of leon songs, california waiting and talihina sky have been completely ruined on the original album, so now , even though i have the original i only play the burned version because those songs have been done much better on it...the same is with franz ferdinand tell her tonight, the version i downloaded has a deeper drum beat and is better..i don't understand how that happens, what, they record a version of a song and then later change it for the purpose of the album?

It could be a radio session or something like that

Kasabian

Well, that happened to me indeed...I had a few Kasabian tracks on my PC, but when I bought the album, I was pretty disappointed...

For example my downloaded "Processed Beats" was quite a lot better.

but i can tell they're not live songs, they sound like they've been recorded in a studio...

it's quite annoying isn't it...see, stealing music over the internet DOES pay off...you find better versions of songs!

I assume the record comp's play around with several different versions of a given song before putting it on the final album. So, maybe if you download maybe a leaked, advanced version of that song, that would be a possible scenario.

Most the the BBC`s sessions are recorded in advance. They`re usually recorded in one or 2 takes. So they`re not actually live as such.

But anyway, it's not the same at all...
I still love to buy LPs. I love to watch them, to read the bootlegs...
If u download everything, you got nothing to held in your hands!
But sometimes u need to see if it's really worth to get this or that album.
The web is an advantage indeed...

i just love the boxes...i've heard the most insane thing ever, people in america seem to through away the cd box cause it takes up space ?!?!?!well what's the point in buying a cd then, i can listen to the burned version just aswell!!

TheBig3 05-22-2005 05:02 PM

Say that again a little clearer man, I have no idea what you mean. Im guess you mean we throw away the case that CDs come in, but the fact that you mention Box makes me think Box set, and so did you hear we throw out the box that the set came in? Which is generalist and therefore untrue but what the hell.

And yeah I think what we down load is unmixed stuff, I got a less glitsy more garage-y version of "somebody told me" where he does have qquite the same (****ty) inflection when they sing " woo who-oo"

sorry, cd cases...jeezz..you got my point, and i heard that on Oprah, this interior designer was on the show and Oprah said to her " i bet you're one of those people that actually save the cd case ", and then the audience started laughin at her and agreeing with Oprah that it's just a waste of space... the woman was outraged and so was i...it's insane..

Tommyrocker 05-23-2005 02:04 PM

weird........was gunna make a thread on this earlier..... some songs ive noticed

libertines - cant stand me now (other one is just like acoustic really)
the killers - mr brightside ("it was only a kis... BUDUMBUDUMBUDDUM" is missing and it just has a different rythmn)
swing swing - all american rejects

they all sound different like on the radio or on kerrang tv etc.

adidasss 05-23-2005 02:12 PM

i'm so glad i downloaded california waiting and talihina sky from the kings, if i just bought the album straight up, i would've been deprived of these great songs...

Never use Oprah as a barometer for what goes on here, she plays up to Jesusland demographics. I save all my cases.

A demographic is simply put a group of people you are designated to target (or not in certain cases) and Jesusland refers to the Middle of America where the overall feel is one of zealotous oppression.
