Yeah, probably should have stated that I was just talking about this specific album. Their second and their weren't all that bad though.

2003-now? limit one per artist, and looking just at indie rock (so no Animal Collective, Joanna Newsom coming in by association)

1. The Microphones - The Glow Pt. 2
2. Arcade Fure - Funeral
3. The Fiery Furnaces - Gallowsbird's Park
4. Titus Andronicus - The Monitor
5. Pinback - Offcell

Looking through RYM, I'm noticing that my preference for indie rock albums drops off dramatically after the mid-nineties. Also, there was a strangely large number of decently rated 2002 indie rock albums that I couldn't include due to timeframe, including: You Forgot It in People, Turn On the Bright Lights, and Songs About Leaving.

Arctic Monkeys- Whatever people Say I Am, That's What I'm Not
They are from near me, and seeing them live in a tiny venue was one of the most electrifying, exciting musical experiences I have ever had. They are the band that got me into modern music. I adore everything about this album, the lyrical trickery that reminds me so much of my own thoughts, the meticulous, relentless drums, the crashing guitar and the brash dissent of youthful northerners.
Art Brut- Bang Bang Rock And Roll
Portugal. The Man- The Satanic Satanist
The White Stripes- Elephant
Alabama Shakes- Boys & Girls

That'll do for now.

Arcade Fire- Neon Bible
Best Coast- The Only Place
Beach House- Bloom
Grizzly Bear- Yellow House
The Arctic Monkey's- Favorite Worst Nightmare

I thought the others were pretty average. Not great, not horrible, a few good tracks here and there. Silent Alarm is still the best, though.

I love that one. I prefer their post-britpop sound, to be honest. :yeah:
