Looking through RYM, I'm noticing that my preference for indie rock albums drops off dramatically after the mid-nineties. Arctic Monkeys- Whatever people Say I Am, That's What I'm Not
They are from near me, and seeing them live in a tiny venue was one of the most electrifying, exciting musical experiences I have ever had. They are the band that got me into modern music. I adore everything about this album, the lyrical trickery that reminds me so much of my own thoughts, the meticulous, relentless drums, the crashing guitar and the brash dissent of youthful northerners.
