adidasss 05-11-2005 02:34 PM

me me me...i love them...although i don't really see what so great about bandages, i thought there were other, better songs on the first album, but the second one is perfectamundo...i sorta saw their video for goodnight, goodnight ( over the internet, cause i don't have mtv, and the national stations play eminem ,50 cent and rob thomas and other crap, god forbid they play something cool..), i thought they looked like the partridge family, sorta lame, they coulda looked much cooler...

EDGE 05-11-2005 03:11 PM

I wore a hot hot heat shirt today.

Sneer 05-11-2005 03:46 PM

superb band. really cool pop-rock. love the second album and the first is very good. bandages is class, though the chorus DOES say "blame the jews". brilliance.

TheBig3 05-11-2005 11:04 PM

blame the jews? I always heard band of jizz.

Imonlydancing 05-12-2005 03:07 PM

hot hot heat DO totally rock....I love them, first album was awsome, from what i've heard off the 2nd album, also awsome...Bandages is a good song, but i think there are better on make up the breakdown.

adidasss 05-12-2005 03:35 PM

today i read a review of elevator in my daily papers, and i was so pissed because the reviewer rated it slightly worse the make up the brakedown ( total fu*ckin' snob who prefers underproduced obscure music ), and it's o obvious that elevator is superior, more songs, better songs...and this is off topic but in the same review he rated the bravery 2/5 whilst saying that "granted, almost every song is a potential hit"!!!!man, music critics really tend to piss me off, luckily i'm not impressionable, and like the music i like, but in the passed year or so i've been getting my information about great new bands from the papers (i see a good rated band, then i go download a couple of songs to see if i like it ) or the internet and this makes me wonder, what have i been missing?

Haha that sounds a bit like me. :)

Just because you can recognise that every song is a potential hit, doesn't mean the album is good or original enough to be given a higher rating.

Anyway back on topic, Hot hot heat I really liked Makeup the Breakdown, perfect catchy pop but like so much of its genre but I got bored of it quickly. This album didn't even grab me as much as being instantly catchy, so I don't have high hopes for it staying in the cd player.

There`s far too much of that around at the moment.

I see loads of new bands with one or 2 catchy songs yet there`s nothing original or anything that you can see any progression from.

I may as well listen to the charts.

Imonlydancing 05-15-2005 12:28 PM

Does anyone think this new album 'elevator' is better than the good old 'make up the breakdown' ?

acctualy don't speak was sorta uncharacteristic for no doubt...and i don't think no doubt or stefani are too talented ( bananas was probobly produced by the neptunes, that's why it's good)...i loved their song, what's it called, oh yeah, underneath it all....great reggae song...

exactly because i give little atention to lyrical content...maybe it's because i'm not a native english speaker...i think your post would be more apropriate to the one who said there was nothing there except it made her dance...i don't expect anything from lyrics...does my post say otherwise?

holdyoualways 05-20-2005 03:40 PM

the only song i know/like from them is bandages. i love that song. for some reason i can picture that song being in the movie cheats. every time i hear it i imagine handsome and sammy and applebee and victor running through the hallways trying to steal the tests. sorry. :offtopic:

I'm late, I know...

Well, I know I'm a bit late, but I finally got "Make Up The Breakdown" (a kind advice, THANK U again Imonlydancing!).
I like this album, especially the songs "This Town", "Aveda", "No, Not Now" & "Bandages". Cool stuff.
I dunno much bout "Elevator" yet, but "Goodnight Goodnight" sounds very promising...
And for I always have to tell my S.HIT to everything: This debate bout lyrics or melody (or whatever it is): Everybody thinks different bout that, wouldn't it be boring if everything sounded the same? There are songs for different moods: The Ronettes when you're in love, Coldplay when you're sad, Franz Ferdinand if ya want to dance the f***ing s.hit out of urself and a Bobby Dylan song if u need to hear social-critical, meaningful lyrics.
Ya may not agree, but I always need to say what I think.

Josephine 05-21-2005 12:08 PM

I love Coldplay, too!

Just saw the post - and yeah of course - I had to tell my opinon directly:
I agree wit U totally. Coldplay always was (and still is) one of my most favourite bands and no matter what they say: Their new album is going to be great.
All you critics won't be able to deny that!

im sure your a nice person, but i get the idea that you think everybody is against your taste in music. despite the fact rock is the new pop. correct me if my assumption is wrong!

Imonlydancing 05-21-2005 12:45 PM

Rock is the new Pop eh?

Josephine 05-21-2005 12:52 PM

I like ur critic!

I don't think that everybody is against me (sometimes I do, but not in here). In contrast to that: I'm quite happy that I found a place where people (mostly) share my taste... And - maybe you didn't get the impresson - I like the fact that people discuss in here, there's nothing wrong bout critic (if it is justified)...
It's better to have an opinion that gets criticized than noone...like all these mainstream-people.
And sorry, but I didn't get u: Do ya mean that I like this kinda music cause it's "en vogue"? Please don't mind if it's only a misunderstanding, but I need to tell u that it's definitly not like that.
Well, I'm sure you're a nice person, too & I'm looking forward to a new discussion...

Sneer 05-21-2005 12:59 PM

seeing as the US is the centre of the music industry, i'll use it as an example. rock music sales make up 24.8% of music sales, more than any other genre of music. pop sales are 11%, RnB 9.7%, rap 12.9%, country 10.7% and so on. thus rock is the most populatr genre of music. take that to a worldwide scale and its exactly the same overall.

Josephine 05-21-2005 01:03 PM

Rock The New Pop

aha, good to know... but that wouldn't make me like rock music...

Imonlydancing 05-21-2005 01:09 PM

huh? anyhoo...Josephine, where are you from?
yeah, seems like theres a lot more Rock being produced nowadays, and people are starting to realise what good music is...i suppose...

i wasnt suggesting you like rock music because its the in thing, i said i dont understand how everyone can be against your taste in music when rock is the most popular genre of music certainly in western culture.

Josephine 05-21-2005 01:18 PM

Hehe, misunderstanding...

Aahh, now I got u... but I said already that u shouldn't mind if it's a misunderstanding...

Yeah, I actually think so, too: More people who like Rock music - that can't be wrong!

Imonlydancing, I'm from germany... That's why there're still many people who don't share my taste. Some over here a real dump!

Imonlydancing 05-21-2005 01:24 PM

Josephine...are you english? cos your english is pretty good.
it does seem like rocks the new thing, and i think its quite good, at least then on the radio something decent might be playing...

Josephine 05-21-2005 01:35 PM

UK's better...

No, I'm not english (sometimes I wish I was)... But it's very flattering that a Brit like u could think that.

I like the UK cause music is much better over there.

Tell me something bout London's Indie-scene! I saw u talking bout that in the new thread and I got curious....

Sneer 05-21-2005 01:39 PM

its based mostly in east end whitechapel area, spawning a lot of low key. raw indie pop bands like the rakes, cherubs, cribs, paddingtons etc. then you have the two bands that have had some commercial success- the libertines and the others. its all very basic, slapdash rock and roll but very good nevertheless. all the bands have websites if you want to check them out.
