I bought the self-titled and De Stijl albums by The White Stripes on the same day back in 2003. I borrowed Elephant from a friend and became hooked and decided to dive into their discography right away. I was about 13and had never been so interested in a band before.

First indie album? um. Bloody hell, I think it's actually Skeletal Lamping by Of Montreal (2008!). I don't buy albums often, as my parents have a pretty wide library and I usually download. Every other album I bought was stuff I bought when I was six or seven, such as Placebo (ew) and Gorillaz (I still like them actually).

Division of fans. The ones who heard them on MTV and thought they were catchy or whatever. And the ones who liked Dan the Automator/Del Tha Funkee Homosapien/Damon Albarn's work. I was pretty much the former at first, but now I'm the latter.

The first alternative album I ever bought was actually the first album I ever bought, period. At the age of nine I picked up Nirvana's live album "On the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah" back in 1996. I didn't know anything about Nirvana at the time but had heard that they were cool so I picked it up.

If Third Eye Blind's eponymous counts, that was it. If not, then In the Aeroplane Over the Sea.

3eb was my first CD. My first non-soundtrack cassette purchase was Chumbawumba "Tubthumper" in elementary school.
