Another kinda obscure band now:

not my favorite, but I do enjoy them to a degree.

Lead singer Thomas Anselmi was the vocalist previously in Vancouver Punk legends Slow

very different bands.

But yeah, Copyright (aka Circle C) were kinda cool for a time to me.

Yeah, for Canadian bands I like old Punk and Metal bands more than I do the Alt-Rock bands from the 90's.

oh, and I remember this being one of my favorite songs for a time:

The Headstones- Loved this band
SIANspheric- Never checkedd them out

I LOVE The Tragicaly Hip.

What about these
Matthew Good Band- Saw them live in like 1999 or 2000 and it was an awesome show.
Wide Mouth Mason- Always hated them, but they were pretty popular for awhile.
big sugar
bran van 3000
the gandharvas

Dudes I gotta say I'm digging the Canadiana angle here hahaha

Pure was fun, I'm surprised you don't remember Anna (was a speed freak).

Sloan annoyed me until I caught them at a festival gig and they turned out to be a super highlight.

Grimskunk was based out of Quebec, pyschedelic stoner rock before it was called that, then they turned more nu-metal and had a minor hit with a tune called Silverhead.

SIANspheric is the best shoegaze band ever ignored by the masses.

As for your recent ones...

Matthew Good - could never stand. I remember liking Apparition and Everything is Automatic back in the day but that was it.

WMM - Same as Moist. They weren't a bad band but there was something missing for me.

Big Sugar - I liked their early stuff and still own Hemi-Vision. Johnson is still touring under the name Grady and apparently will pull out Joe Louis live.

Bran Van 3000 - Their debut, Glee, is one of the most underrated and under appreciated Beck styled mishmash of every musical style a producer could get their hands on and shape into a disc.

The Gandharvas - One of my personal favourites, they remind me of Jane's Addiction without sounding like a ripoff. The first album is kind of weak but the follow-up Kicking In The Water is a must if you enjoy the band. Their last disc Sold for a Smile is more reminiscent of the Pixies but still quite good.

and finally THE HIP - They're one of those bands that I really don't mind hearing on the radio but I can't bring myself to listening to a full album.

Bastard - can't comment because I honestly don't remember any of those. Then again I also stopped watching MuchMusic in late '98 when I moved away for school. LOVE that Killjoys video though :thumb:

Some others I admit to liking.

Have a soft spot still for d.b.s., they were the first punk band I saw live. They played in the basement of the library. Only a few shows were held there before it became a casualty of the asshole war. Miss those days, seeing 6 bands for $5.

Gob is a just a band I liked when I was 14. This album still kinda entertains me, just nostalgia i suppose.

Have a friend who still loves this band. Never was big into them, but they had their charm at times.

Finally, love this band. Billy Hopeless entertains me. Their shows were fun as well. Probably not many other fans around these parts (though there was a thread for them).

Gob was pretty cool. Much better than the pop punk of Sum41 and Blink182. That doesn't say much though.

BastardofYoung 03-31-2012 06:56 PM

I still like Gob at times. "How Far Shallow Takes You" is not a bad album. Has it's moments.

Overall though, not a band I go out of my way to listen to much anymore.
