Default Anyone interested in an Australian must listen to thread?

After going through Zero's must listen to indie albums thread, and listening to a lot of stuff id never herd before, i was wondering if you guys would like to discover some australian alternative and indie stuff you may have never herd?

If theres any interest, i will post what ive discovered over the last 20 years or so, and maybe you will get onto some great bands you have never herd before.

Just say the word and ill start posting!

Go for it! I've been looking for some more good Australian bands besides The Church and The Drones. Should be interesting.

Yeah, I'm in Melbourne but haven't really been out and about in the last 10 years so have no idea who's any good when I do want to go out and see some pub bands. It would be nice to find out some names of good local bands. Mind you Aussie stuff will probably be impossible to find for those in the States.

Speaking of good local bands check out Pony Face if you haven't heard them. Their first album 'Bearded Little Girls' was a nice effort. Their second album suffered in the mixing in my opinion but still some good stuff live.

Check out Purplene, their self-titled, second and final studio album was awesome.

Kevin Parker (the guy who writes and records all of Tame Impala's tracks) is involved in a great deal of other bands either directly or inderectly (members of his other bands have their own bands as well) if you look up spinning top music on facebook or look up bands like:
The Dee Dee Dums
Mink Mussel Creek
Pond (opened for flaming lips during aussie tour)
Allbrook/Avery

the list goes on, there is also a tame impala blog on tumblr that has lots of good other aussie bands
