Prog elitists are pretty bad, but metal and punk elitists can be worse, alternative rock fans tend to be the most open minded. |

indie is a really dumb name for a genre, but a good genre. |

I can name at least one band or artist i like from every genre, even those i dont paticularly care for.
I dont like to limit myself to genres, genres are just descriptions to help describe the sound of certain artists, and the history of that "sound"... It's not meant to be some club where everyone who is a membe can't join another club or else they are un-hip, or something like that. But i know the feeling, i used to get poked fun of on the progarchives forum a lot because i like The Ramones. ![]() |

I have no particularly great knowledge in any genre. I suppose my age has a lot to do with that, but it's also because I like to move to different genres all the time. I wouldn't credit myself as loving any genre, I like most of them equally. I think this is a more rewarding way to view music that being a fanboy of one genre and looking no further. Broaden your horizons, people, you'll never know what you might find...

http://www.musicbanter.com/showthread.php?t=15148 back to the pixies, well, what else is there to say? massively influential, yet massively underrated in my opinion. |

Underrated? They are really well known. I went on holiday to Weymouth just as The Pixies went on tour and they were on the front cover of nearly every magazine. And the Foo Fighters were touring alongside them aswell, and you would usually expect the Foo Fighters to get the front cover.

they are definetly underrated. yes, they are known, yes they are popular. but their influences on what came afterwards are overlooked. when you think about bands that important in the developement of music, the pixies are one the most significant. yet they still have this status of a cult band.
