Default Nu Wave

Nu wave: the New Nu-Metal? Discuss:

It's taken root in modern rock radio, is massivly overexposed in magazines, and is the soundtrack to every psudeo-intellectual.

I think we've already started to see bands get record deals based on their sound alone. Are we in for 5 years of robotic riffs, jerk dancing, and bad suits? Sweet god I hope not. Why couldn't garage has stuck around.

completely with you, though garage is still very much around with the stripes releasing new material, the subways breaking through.

Mmm it may be around, but no new bands are emerging (I havn't heard the subways but ill go check them out) and the Von Bondies and the Stripes aren't going to be called a genre, they'll get lumped in with alt rock.

Nu Wave, has some terrible new band coming out every week with a terrible back beat and a new effect for guitars. I just cannot relate to anything Kaiser CHeifs/Bravery/Thrills put out. Seems like music being made to get laid.

throw in the mooney suzuki, the vines, jet to an extent, the black velvets, nine black alps, ikara colt and the 22/20s etc, garage is still very much around. but yeah, the subways are quite an exciting proposition, they'll be big. im quite happy with my prog rock anyway for the time being. Nu wave is listenable if nothing groundbreaking.

The best garage rock bands split up before the whole garage thing broke

*sheds a tear over the demise of The Delta 72 , Guitar Wolf & Jonathan Fire Eater*
