Swirlies - They Spent Their Wild Youthful Days In The Glittering World Of The Salons (1996)
This is the second full-length album from this Boston indie band. The band are often labelled as a shoegaze band due to some similarities with My Bloody Valentine but this band are pretty much out on their own in terms of creativity, originality and uniqueness, especially on this album. The band are also a key influence on Autolux's sound. This album features walls of guitars, often descending into Sonic Youth-esque noise, some bizarre yet humorous voice recordings, noise experiments, and some moments of melodic beauty. This album is a must for anyone seeking some great experimental 90's indie rock and what's even better is that this album, along with most of their discography is available for free from their website!

Blonder Tongue Audio Baton was one of the albums I used to listen to walking to school every day... used to dig it a lot, but I could never find any other Swirlies albums. Downloading this one now, we'll see how it holds up.

Blonder Tongue Audio Baton is a great album, but I just love They Spent Their Wild Youthful Days that little bit more. It just seems a little bit more interesting to listen to and there's some seriously good songs on it.

This album sparked an obsession with these guys. It's one of my favorite albums. It flows really nicely as well. Blonder Tongue Audio Baton is also a good bet, but this was their peak for sure.
