Waited Up Til It Was Light by Johnny Foreigner

Not going to have a poll this time because I feel it sort of kills the discussion. |
I'd known of this album for years, all because of the album artwork, which I think is fantastic. I went to Birmingham this spring, and saw the bullring myself, and when I remembered this album, I became very excited to listen to it, because I jump at trivial references to familiar locations like that.
It wasn't really what I thought. I felt like the music let the artwork down, but it makes perfect sense to me now how I heard about this album on a pop punk website. It's a juvenile album of pop punk and British yelping. I found it best through the middle three tracks (rather enjoyable) and ultimately, while it's good for what it is, it succeeds in a genre I'd long ago grown away from. |
I wasn't too impressed with this to be honest. I admire it's fun, youthful energy but the vocals just sound a bit messy and irritating at times and there's no songs that really stand out for me. Los Campesinos! and Sky Larkin do this type of thing far better.

Sorry to be a bit late... I'll go ahead and agree with the two posts before me and say that it was just a mediocre album. It's mostly comprised of indie rock/pop punk with cliche vocals that are typically found in this genre. Kind of fun, but it got old as I began to listen to the rest of the album.
