^ Wtf...not Nirvana. The vocals sound like a mix between Liam Gallagher, Craig Nicholls, and Anthony Kiedis. The band sounds like a mix between The Libertines and Franz Ferdinand. Ahh, this is only my opinion, I only listened to two songs so it's from that. I like them, I think they were on some website like Black Mountain or something, the art reminded me of Pink Mountaintops or something, nvm. Yeah, I like them. |
Ohhh, i looove Nine Black Alps, absolutely awesome. They're actually great. :D i'm recommending 'not everyone' and 'shot down'
well 'not everyone' sounds very grungy and nirvana esque in my opinion, sorry. the rest is similair but much more tuned away from it
They seem to have pilfered a large amount of riffs from Peal Jam circa. 1995.

and yeah, whoever said theres a nirvana-esque element to them i agree. especially not everyone and get your guns. |
thankyou
I just got "Shot Down" on a free CD. Woo! Tis an awesome song, and the CD was free... what more could you want?
^ me too! i think it was NME....

I'll agree with franscar on the Pearl Jam sound though, 1995, maybe even Staind, some post-grunge. Just not grunge in itself, such as Nirvana. I think they combined a few grunge elements though, so I'd say they're more post-grunge if anything. Lol, the first time I listened to 30 seconds of "Shot Down" and assumed everything, oops. Yeah, they're okay but they fade away in your mind, kind of like BRMC does.....hmmm.. |
depends whos mind it is.
going to see Nine Black Alps on sunday i cant wait going to be class, i bought the album and its good with a few stand out tracks, makes you jump around.
I saw them last weekend *dances*
were they good?
P.S- their debut "everything is" is class. |
Yeah they were really good! Got us all jumping around, they were my favourites as well as the subways at that festival, both good for jumping.
2 of my favourite new bands
^you should come to a festival next year *dances more*
the only festival my freinds want to go to is reading. we have differing tastes.
they wre playin at Middlesbrough Music Live yesterday, and i meant to see them. I've heard really good things about them, but the thrills were on at the same time, and i completely forgot
ah...shame that. yeah, subways and NBA, two of my favorite new bands also.
i can't believe i haven't posted here yet! this band is great. i haven't heard the whole album, maybe half or something, but they're great, much like the subways(in terms of being great)!!

I really hate the way NME made a huge deal about them being the next Nirvana a few months ago. Yeah theyre sound is grunge, theyre different to a lot of the new bands around at the moment, and being a Nirvana fan i do like them, but they still have a bit of a way to go before they can even be compared, sorry. But as a new band i think they will do well, their last few gigs sold out so they must be doing something right.
Ill (hopefully) be seeing them in a few weeks *crosses fingers* Should be awesome. And I dont see why everything grunge should be compared to Nirvana... Nine Black Alps have a grunge part of them, but its not as if they're trying to walk in Nirvanas footsteps anyways.
^ me too, me too! I'm seeing them too! *gets excited* (well aita, you knew that) but still, yeah theyre awesome. Yeah, i'd have to agree with you about the Nirvana thing.
so i WAS right all along they do sound like nirvana
Maybe they have nirvana influences...but they don't sound exactly like nirvana, well in my opinion anyways.
Nuh uh, very different to Nirvana. I think they jus have a grunge influence in general. Theres always a lot more to a genre than one band, obviously. They dont sound much like Nirvana to me, but I see aspects of it in them I guess. *Makes no sense* Ah well.
I've only heard 'Not Everyone'. It's an OK song, Haven't heard any others though.
Well, I went to see them, I met Sam, and it was awesome. *dances* SOOO good. Front row, Got the Playlist AND a drumstick.
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b7...BlackAlps2.jpg ^My Friend with Amazingly-cool hair SAM (NBA) and Me....looking awful. |
to me nine black alps have a grunge influence but they counteract that with a heavy brit pop influence and even a bit of post-grunge (bit of an anthises but nvm).
and i WANT TO SEE THEM. its so unfair. still....BRMC on monday at the garage..OOOYEAH |
Love them esp Unsatisfied. It just gets stuck in your head. They are a top band and so are the Dogs
Selfish ways kicks ass |
