You really think either of those songs is as good as anything Franz has done? Maybe I'm just not a fan of trash, in film or in music, but I just don't see it...I like my glossy production. :\
Incidentally, are you some kind of homosexual dear fellow? You are a fellow aren't you? Edit: Also, I think there's a rather substantial difference between dance punk or post punk (which I think GoF would fall under) and dance rock, the latter being much poppier/less dissonant (who said rock can't be catchy?). I think a worthier parallel (with GoF) would have been to Bloc party or Young knives (at least their first albums).

And I'd rather not go into details here but yes i am a gentleman. However my gender is up for grabs if you put 'New York Dolls' on edit: re your edit - good point, I think Orange Juice fit dance punk bill tho!? |

Well dear fellow, you should really get a hold of an album or two, they are quite smashing.

Yeah, didn't like the remixes of Tonight, at all. Kinda annoying in fact...

So I'm faced with a dilemma. Franz Ferdinand are coming to Texas which they very rarely do and I'd love to see them but they is a catch they're opening for Green Day. How could a band like Franz Ferdinand that has headlined the Bonnaroo festival and played at Glastonbury be an opening act for a mediocre band like Green Day? A group of faux punk rockers, men in their late 30's that still wear eyeliner. And for any of you willing to protest me calling them faux punk I told my mother about wanting to see Franz Ferdinand but how I didn't want to watch Green Day to which she replied "what's wrong with Green Day I like them?" yes she apparently likes Green Day, for me that takes away all their creditability as a punk band. But anyway I really want to see Franz Ferdinand (I thought Tonight was pretty good but neither it or it's predecessor come close to the greatness of their debut album) but I don't wanna pay $100 to see them play for 30 mins and there is no way I'd stick around for Green Day. I can understand a band like Franz Ferdinand having trouble filling a 12000 seat arena in a state like Texas but there are much better bands to open for, also I'm sure smaller venues would welcome you with open arms. Franz, You Could Have Had It So Much Better

A 100 fucking dollars? Da-ha-yum...
Anyhoo, if I had the money, I'd go see both. Franz are fantastic live (although I think I may be a slightly bigger fan than you) and have improved immensely over the last few years. They'll have an excellent sound system supporting Green Day. Plus, I'm not really sure why you have such a major problem with GD, they're just a rock band, and they're likely to put on a good show...:\

Like, at all? I mean, I'm not a major fan either but they have some fun tunes...:\
Dunno dude, you're in a pickle. I had a similar situation a few years back when The Bravery was opening for Depeche mode (whom I don't like). I passed on it, but mostly because I'd already seen The Bravery in Bologna...they're not nearly as good as FF though..:\
