I've heard a couple of tunes by The Drones before and they seem pretty good. They seem like more of a punk or post-punk band sure it doesn't really matter that much. Going to go with that album.

Felt - Forever Breathes The Lonely Word (1986)
A brilliant album of pop-infused, literate 80's indie. The collision of chiming Rickenbacker guitars and organ is unique and blends together so well as it was the most natural thing in the world. The album invokes feelings of both romance and misery as well as sounding quite upbeat at times. An essential UK indie release.

Absolutely fantastic album!

I'll whack in a future nomination too.

Scout Niblett - Sweet Heart Fever

English singer-songwriter with an off-kilter, minimal and evocative brand of grungy folk. This is her first album, and it's full of life-beaten contemplation, pulled off with sophistication and restraint. Brilliant in it's mournful languidness, it' s great for those evenings tinged with existential malaise.
