Piers Faccini - Two Grains of Sand (2009)

I myself have only heard a few songs off this album, but a friend of mine which taste I trust speaks really highly about this album. The album is acoustic, lo-fi with a folksy feel.

If anyone who listened more to this want to add more to the description, go ahead :).

It's a bit disheartening to see that there hasn't been a post in this thread for about a month... So, since there aren't many (or any) participants, then perhaps it would be a good idea to stop?

But then again it probably wouldn't have generated too much discussion. I find it rather strange that quite a lot of MB members are into indie and alternative but very few of them are participating in this club, they're probably too busy discussing off-topic rubbish somewhere.

I promise to be more active if it continues. I've had a lot to do so I have forgotten about it. It is my feeling that the indie forum is quite inactive on MB, at least compared to the other genres, maybe I'm wrong? That's sad anyways, cause many people here have great taste and a lot to share.

Pretty much the majority of the music forums are a bit inactive (with the exception of the General Music and Rock/Metal forums).

This album was recorded in 2004 and it is actually by a "Final Fantasy" which is the solo project name that Canadian musician Owen Pallet often releases under. The album has 16 tracks. It is Final Fantasy's first album. Owen Pallett is a composer, violinist, keyboardist, and vocalist from Toronto, Ontario. Pallett has been noted for his live performances, wherein he plays the violin into a loop pedal, a technique also used by musicians such as Andrew Bird, Jeremy Larson, Emily Wells and Zoë Keating. The name Final Fantasy, under which Pallett recorded prior to the release of Heartland, was a tribute to the well-known video game series, of which Pallett is a fan.


Cool fact from wikipedia that I never knew:
The Win and Regine referred to in "This Is The Dream of Win & Regine" are Win Butler and Regine Chassagne of Arcade Fire, the band with whom Pallett plays live (and often opens for) and for whom he arranged the orchestral sections on their albums. The title of the song is also a reference to "(This Is) The Dream of Evan and Chan," a song by Dntel and Ben Gibbard that was the seed of the pair's collaboration as The Postal Service.
