Because they are progressive rock, they are often indentified as such and cite various prog influences and if you listened to a good deal of their material you would agree.
I have already established what I'll accept for this section and what I won't. Muse are ok by the book. If you don't like them, fine. But don't whine about how they're not prog simply because you don't like them, if you have nothing to offer but insults you don't need to be here. |

There's nothing progressive with muse, if you let muse in you may as well let scooter in.

See thats what I'm talking about, if you can't provide a valid argument, then don't bother arguing at all.

Find one example where muse has identified themselves as part of the progressive genre... through their music.
Disproving something is much harder than proving it, since I'd have to provide every single bit of music they've done. So it's simpler to ask you to provide any example where they've been exhibited as a progressive band.

Muse = more accessible prog.
Only other genre i can think about is alternative rock, but genre arguments are just stupid imo. I mean, every long thread i visit has a indie vs prog or whatever genre argument? Anyways, i like the band. They have this epic, poppy sound...and even if they are played on the radio quite often, i don't think they sound like the usual bands there. It's been like 5 years since i even listened to the radio...Last thing i would care about is that. |

Just about every review of a Muse album or magazine article brings up the word "prog" somewhere, and while the band may not have strongly embraced the term they haven't made a strong outcry against it either like Radiohead have.
They credit Yes and Genesis as strong influences, Rick Wakeman even said he considers them part of the new prog movement. This is a man who is the stereotypical embodiment of everything that is prog. So far you haven't made any kind of real argument. And you're wasting my time, a lot of people consider them prog and if you don't, well tough luck. Stop repeating yourself or I'll start deleting posts. |
