Muse is ok. Definately not going on my iPod anytime soon, but their not bad. After I heard Uprising and Supermassive Black Hole, I decided to give the rest of their tracks a try. I guess Muse just isn't my kind of band.

It seems to be a big thing among music critics and fans to say "I loved their early stuff, but after (insert commercially successful album here) they sold out/lost their roots/or just plain sucked" and I'm usually pretty critical of those kind of responses.

But for me, that's exactly how I feel about Muse. Origin of Symmetry was an absolutely class album, with probably my favourite song-plug in baby. By the point of Black Holes and revelations they still had real quality-Assasain and Knights of Cydonia are in my top 5 Muse songs, but it had some questionable songs in Starlight and Supermassive black hole. Since then, they've been absolutely terrible in my opinion.

Is it just me or do Muse seem like one of those bands that don't really progress?

Maybe progress isn't the right word exactly. They seem stuck to a certain one way of production with not much of a variety, all extending on the same level and structure. Don't go so far in terms of experimentation. Their sound is original, just doesn't really go anywhere past what they originally do... From what I hear off course.

The Resistance was mediocre in a really pompous way, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't love Origin of Symmetry. As for the new album, can't really be bothered tbh.

I thought Knights Of Cydonia was a spaghetti western sounding piece of crap. I actually liked Starlight, it certainly rips off ABC'S All of My Dreams in a big way, but the lyrics made it solid and radio friendly. Unfortunately they have gone the balladeer route and stopped pumping the loud bass and channeling the distortion in. They have added way too much synthesiser/keyboards to the mix for my taste. I will however say Madness the new single is kind of catchy.

Not much of a fan, but they have a good guitarist. I find the song Uprising rather catchy.

Just starting to get into them. So far I've only really listen to the album 'The Resistance' but it is truly one of the most fantastic listening experience I have ever had in my life. I can't begin to explain how highly I think of that album.
