Although I really enjoy The Resistance, I have to agree that their previous work does sound quite different... so if you didn't like it, you shlould still check out some earlier albums, because they are strong and very good, consistently good!

Also, TCS got it messed up. Origin of Symmetry and Absolution were their second and third albums, Showbiz was the first. |

Origin and Absolution are definitely the strongest albums they've made, the other stuff is good IMO, but not on the same level as those two albums.

listening to The Resistance and the new song makes me so fucking depressed. What happened to these guys?
|
To me Muse are so massive sounding, so epic and so over-the-top that it is a cosmic impossibility for me not to love them.

The problem with The Resistance is that they tried to pack everything into one album. You have a Queen ripoff, a ****ing rnb tune, a french opera AND a rock symphony spanning 13 minutes. The whole thing was overproduced and out of control to really make for a good record. Personally, I don't think the guys are very good producers and shouldnt try to produce their own record next time.
Neutron Star Collision was just horrible. But Dom and Chris said something like how that period of experimentation was over and they were planning to move on from that sound. I dunno, but that makes me kinda hopeful. |
The music video was playing in the theater for that song they did for Twilight last night. I hadn't heard it before but it basically just sounds like Muse parodying themselves. It's pretty bad.

Parts of TR was kinda bad. Guiding Light, Undisclosed Desires, I Belong to You....It kinda makes me depressed.
Of course, there still were some good songs: The Exogenesis suite, MK Ultra, Uprising, Resistance (some people don't like this one, but I really do). Some people are really worried about what might come next, but I still have some faith in these guys. I just hope my faith isn't misplaced. |
